City Toy Bins Sew-Along: Week 2
Welcome to Week 2 of the City Toy Bins Sew-Along! This is where the magic truly begins. All the preparation from last week—the careful cutting and labeling—pays off as we dive into sewing and assembly.
This week, you’ll watch your first City Toy Bin come to life. Whether you’re making it for your child, grandchild, or as a thoughtful gift, each stitch is a step toward creating something both practical and deeply meaningful. Let’s get sewing!
What You’ll Be Doing
Week 2 is all about bringing your first bin to life. Here’s what’s included:
1️⃣ Sew Your Panels: Start by sewing your cityscape panels. This is where appliqué, topstitching, and creative touches really shine.
2️⃣ Assemble Your Bin: Once your panels are finished, piece them together to create your 3D bin. Watching it take shape is so rewarding!
3️⃣ Celebrate Your Progress: Share your work-in-progress or finished bin—it’s inspiring to see everyone’s creativity come alive.
Goal for the Week: Finish one fully assembled bin by the end of the week.
Designer Tip: Add Your Unique Touch
Topstitching isn’t just functional—it’s a chance to show off your personality. Choose a thread color that contrasts or complements your fabric, and don’t be afraid to try out decorative stitches.
✨ Bonus Idea: For an extra pop, consider adding vinyl windows, sparkle paste, or hand-embroidered details. Small touches like these make your bin uniquely yours.
Why It Matters
The City Toy Bins aren’t just for storage—they’re for creating order with imagination. By sewing these bins, you’re crafting a playful solution to toy clutter and inspiring your little ones to see tidying up as fun.
Imagine their excitement as they put their toys away in their very own Fire Station or proudly stack books in the Market Bin. These bins help kids stay organized while adding charm to their playroom, bedroom, or wherever they roam.
And for you, this project is a moment to slow down, sew with purpose, and create something that will be cherished for years to come.
