My love of fabric and thread started at a very, very young age and it began with a little cross stitch pattern! I remember the excitement as a young child, picking out my first mini cross stitch project and using a real needle to create the design. It was truly a magical and empowering experience for me and I have never looked back since!
I am thrilled to give myself the grace again, throughout the month June,
to stitch along with the Lori Holt and the Fat Quarter Shop on this fun, and simple,
There are so many benefits to cross stitch that go further than the beautiful project and stitches you end up with at the end. Here are a few of my personal reasons for cross stitching this month.
1. We have (4) teens/pre-teens and our family is on the go for sports most evenings. However, cross stitch is so portable, it can go wherever I go. This past weekend, I watched my daughter pitch at one of her double header ball games, and enjoyed cross stitching between innings.
2. Family time (whether around the campfire or a family movie) is a great time for cross stitching. I can be totally involved in conversation and relaxation, but still be creative. The bonus is I passed on the roasted marshmallows because I didn't want to get my crafting sticky! Thank you Granny Square Cross Stitch lol.
3. This is the most important one for me: slowing down! Cross stitch is meditative and peaceful, while still being productive. It is good for my mind, body and soul!
