Teach, play and act out the heroes in your community with the It Takes a Village Felt Doll & Bag set! This sew along will walk you through cutting, stitching, and embellishing felt dolls, as well as stitching zippered truck pouches in which to carry the pieces.
Week 1: Preparation & Cutting
Welcome to Week 1of the It Takes A Village Panel Sew-Along! I’m so thrilled you’re joining us on this creative adventure. This project holds a special place in my heart because it’s inspired by something I deeply cherish—the power of community. Just like it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a village to inspire creativity. This sew-along is more than just a project; it’s an opportunity to come together, connect, and celebrate the magic of making something with love.
This week is all about getting prepared and gathering your supplies! Watch the video below for a warm welcome and an overview of this week’s steps. Needed Supplies:
•(1) It Takes a Village Felt Panel
Optional Supplies:
Fat Quarters for bag lining ( 2 per bag )
36” x 48” Basic, white craft felt
(3) 8“/9” or longer #5 nylon coil zipper
Embroidery Floss for embellishments
Heatnbond Sparkle Paste for embellishments
Hand sewing needle and thread
Zipper foot attachment
Turning tool or chopsticks
Instructions for Week 1
Carefully cut all the pattern pieces on the outer cutlines.
2. Optional: Embellish the Felt Doll with any hand embroidery details or sewn-on sequins or buttons. Caution: Be aware of age appropriateness for any embellishments you sew on.
