1. Precision Cutting Matters
Start with pressed and lightly starched fabric for a crisp, stable surface.
Use a rotary cutter on a hard surface for straight edges and scissors for curves.
2. Proper Fusing Techniques
When applying fusible fleece or adhesive, press the iron down firmly and lift—don’t slide.
Work from the center outward to prevent puckering.
3. Baste Your Zipper First
Attach the zipper to the outer fabric with a basting stitch before adding the lining for greater control and alignment.
4. Handle the Zipper Pull Like a Pro
Stop sewing just before the zipper pull, keep the needle down, lift the presser foot, and move the pull out of the way.
5. Use the Right Products
High-quality tools like HeatnBond Fusible Fleece, light sewable adhesive, and a sharp rotary cutter make a big difference.
6. Organize Your Fabric Pieces
Label and separate your cuts by size and type (outer, lining, fusible) to avoid confusion during assembly.
7. Clip or Pin Strategically
Use clips or pins to secure layers, especially when sewing curved edges or zippers, for clean, even seams.
8. Topstitch for a Professional Look
After sewing the zipper, add a topstitch along the seam to keep the fabric in place and give the pouch a polished finish.
9. Turn Your Pouch Out Carefully
Use a blunt tool like a chopstick to push out corners and smooth curves for a clean, finished appearance.
10. Close the Lining Seam Neatly
Use a ladder stitch to hand-sew the lining opening for an invisible finish, or machine-sew for speed and durability.

I am confused by the boxing at the TOP of the vehicles. Do I box the lining separate from the vehicle (2 boxes in each corner) or do I make ONE box on each side of the top that includes both the lining and the felt? I did the latter, and it feels like the single box on each side really cuts into the opening.
Secondly, do you really think all of the police pieces will fit inside the police car? Even the officers are too big to fit without jamming them into the car. Let alone the police station would take some massive crunching to fit into the car.
