What does a SUPERHERO look like?

Our perception of a what a Superhero is and looks like has taken on a whole NEW meaning this year, hasn't it? It has been such a source of beauty and inspiration to see ordinary people, our friends, neighbours and families, transform and rise up to help each other out!!!

The meaning behind the "Be A Superhero" quilt pattern series is just that... to visually transform the recipient into a Superhero! When someone stands behind, or lays underneath the Be A Superhero quilt... THEY become the Superhero! A true empowerment quilt!

I wanted to support and share this process together with you, so I decided to offer a FREE, weekly video tutorial full of tricks and tips to make any of the Be A Superhero patterns through a QAL (quilt-along) for the quilt and SAL (sew-along) for the doll patterns. The weekly videos were recorded LIVE and are now uploaded into their respective Facebook groups. You can watch all the videos for FREE! Just look under the UNITS tab for "Be A Superhero!"

For the QAL and SAL I was so excited to get the chance to sew with Amber Kemp-Gerstel of Damask Love's GRL PWR collection for Riley Blake Designs! There are so many amazing prints in this collection and the colors are so fun and happy!!!

The lightning bolt print has a wonderful face border on each side of the selvage! What a great bonus on the print! I decided to fussy cut the border to use in the center of my Be A Superhero quilt center crest! I also fussy cut the trim on the back of the doll's cape!!!

To keep your pieces organized, I designed some FREE downloadable PDF printables for your Be A Superhero quilts. You can go download yours HERE.

I just adore this pink - "Put your hands up." I think it makes the perfect leggings for both the doll and the quilt.

You can find all the QAL tutorials and videos at INSPIRED QUILTING Facebook Group.

I share tutorials on how fun (and EASY) half-square RECTANGLES can be!

We talk about keeping all your fabrics organized and ready to sew with using the FREE Be A Superhero Quilt Letter Labels!

I also teach weekly TRICKS about using directional fabrics! How do you easily get all your little lightning bolts on these star blocks facing the same direction?! It is fun and simple - trust me!

In the Be A Superhero quilt pattern I teach the 8-at-a-time method for making half-square triangles. It is like MAGIC! If you use this method, you are guaranteed to get all your directional fabrics facing the same way on your star block! YAY!!!! Come check out this video to see what I mean.

The Be A Superhero pattern series can be found in my shop, etsy, the Fat Quarter Shop, or at your local quilt shop! No matter where you purchase your pattern, 10% of each sale is being donated to Caleb's Courage. This week also marks the beginning of the Be A Superhero MOVEMENT where we are challenging you to make either the Strength or Courage Superhero Quilts and take photos of the Superhero's in your life standing behind your quilts and tag the photos using the hashtag "beasuperheroMOVEMENT." Your Superhero's can be doctors, nurses, school teachers, homeschooling parents, children wearing masks, bus drivers, mail carriers, grocery store workers, neighbours.... and the list goes on... We are already seeing quilts pop up all around the globe, and we know the power this movement will have to empower, inspire, unite and lift eachother up! Come join the movement and BE A SUPERHERO!

I used the Simple Snowflake Pantos 2 by Intelligent Quilting to longarm this quilt.

Good afternoon, I have purchased both of your BE A SUPERHERO BRAVE and BOLD. I am ready to get started and was looking for the free pdf coloring sheet for both patterns. If you could help me that would be great. I am trying to design a wolverine color quilt for my grandson. Thank you for your help. Beverly Aiman
