"A cup of tea is an excuse to share great thoughts with great minds." - Christina Ra
Throughout the month of May in Inspired Quilting Facebook Group, we ran a LIVE, weekly Quilt-along for the Stronger Together Quilt pattern! We know we are more powerful when we empower each other - and so this is exactly what this FREE Educational Group does! We have had people from all over the world sew along together with us - some this is their first quilt ever, and some are long time quilters but have never fussy cut before. We have experienced quilters joining that are sharing so many wonderful tips and one participant even made the whole quilt as a memory quilt from her children's loved clothing items! It is really so beautiful how we can cross borders and oceans to sew together so freely! I love it!
I made my Stronger Together Quilt this month in Tea with Bea fabrics. These elegant fabrics by Katherine Lenius for Riley Blake Designs are so versatile. The can fit nicely into any home decor or clothing project or used for a children's project. This sample quilt I made will become the Tea Party picnic blanket for my youngest daughter and her cat! The illustrations and florals in Tea with Bea have so many wonderful details and brush strokes. I think it is brilliant how she added charcoal accents in this collection! The darker color gives a wonderful, sophisticated anchor without taking away from the playful spirit of this collection.
It is NOT too late to join the Stronger Together Quilt-along. In fact - it is NEVER too late! We upload all the videos full of tricks, tips and tutorials in the "Guides" tab in the Inspired Quilting Facebook Group and the videos are in there forever for you to work through at your own pace. The four week QAL format looks like this:
Week 1: Fabric Selection, Inspiration, and tips on selecting fabrics for Fussy Cutting
Week 2: Fussing Cutting and more! Take all the guess work out and learn my secret to never fail fussy cutting.
Week 3: Assembling the Block: Learn a game changing tip I use all the time when sewing on the a bias seam and a trimming after each step for accuracy and ease.
Week 4: Assembling the Finished Quilt: Reap the benefits of all the previous weeks by enjoying the process of putting together all the blocks. We talk about how to pin points so there is no shifting, sewing your borders together with a bias seam and so many options for quilting and finishing your quilt.
Bonus: On Wednesday, June 2nd at 2pmCST we will be LIVE again in Inspired Quilting to share the big reveal. I will do a mini truck show and show all 5 Stronger Together Quilts I have previously made - including this stunning Tea with Bea Reveal! We will also draw a prize winner for the Grand Prize: A 1-year subscription to Inspired Mini Quilts Club where you will receive a mini quilt a month for the whole year and a $50 Gift Card to Ivy Rayne Fabrics! All you have to do is comment on any of the 4 Stronger Together videos before we go live to be entered to win!
Thank you for joining me, and I hope you can take sometime today to make a beautiful cup of tea and enjoy the simple pleasures of life!
